Did you manage to catch this mosaic heart at Punggol Digital District this September?

On the launch day of Shaping Hearts 2026, SalvageGarden and SPD invited visitors to be part of this artwork. Families spent time with us, designing their own 3D printed tiles, and adding them to the mosaic alongside tiles designed by SPD’s community of people with disabilities.

Since joining forces in January, SalvageGarden and SPD brought on board Artist Mahyuddin Chan, who led the creative process, bringing together our speciality in 3D printing and artworks from the community. We printed seven sets of alphabet tiles, four sets of which were distributed to different SPD centres: Enabling Services Hub (ESH) Punggol, ESH Tampines, SPD@Tampines, SPD@Canberra, under the Enabling Skills for Life Programme (ESLP) SPD. The alphabet tile artworks were then collected back from the centres and arranged to form a heart, modelled after the Shaping Hearts logo.

We also welcomed the Guest of Honour, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Gan Kim Yong, to try out our assistive devices, which are all open-source, some designed by our volunteers themselves!

DPM Gan and lots more visitors that day were able to test out samples of the different assistive devices that day with this in mind: “We can just print another one.” Of course, our visitors were gentle with the devices, and could still experience how the devices make day-to-day activities more accessible. But how can we just print another one?

The assistive devices we showcased at Shaping Hearts 2026 are all open-source designs (meaning everyone can find these online to print for themselves or their loved ones!) which can be found in our Printables collection, along with so many more.

We owe big thanks to NECDC, SPD, and all our volunteers for making this showcase at Shaping Hearts 2026 possible!

You Are Invited to Co-Create with Us!

You don’t need to be a tech expert or have any prior experience to be part of the difference we’re making for people who could use a little more access in their everyday. We want to learn from your lived experience, your ideas, and your passions too. Join us at Make Inclusive Tech (MIT) Sundays!
